I tried to find out where the recipe was to feed my scoby was. I put in 'feeding scoby'
but couldn't find it.........Probably user error hahaha
Could someone tell me what the ratio is.
I have it (my scoby) in a gallon glass jar.
Also .......my scoby is still really thin. ???? What I am makig
tastes really good except for the last batch was a little sweet.
This is what I fed it before tell me if I was correct
8 cups water 1 cup organic sugar 4 tea bags (too much sugar????)
Thank you for the help.

Re: feeding scoby
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 11:39 PMi don't put that much sugar in, but thats just me. i would put more tea in tho. and it sounds like you are eager to drink it, and drained it before the little cultures metabolized all the sugar. scoby doesn't need to be thick to do a good job. make sure you keep it in a dark place. (i have a 2 gallon jar, and i just put a brown bag over it while it brewing.

Tue, July 21, 2009 - 8:29 AMI assume that by "feeding scoby" you're describing the same process as making kombucha itself. Scoby grows just from the process of making the tea sour.
I use 50% more water than you do. My recipe is 3 quarts of water, 1 cup of sugar and 4 tea bags. 3 quarts = 12 cups.
If your product's a little sweet, I would guess you just need to let it continue. -

Tue, July 21, 2009 - 1:46 PMThat's what I was doing wrong........not enough water and not letting it
sit long enough. I'll add more tea next time too. Thank you for the help
I will try that and see what happens.
