hi :)
has anyone ever experimented with coconut and kombucha?
i was making some granola with shredded coconut and became inspired by all of the natural coconut oil left behind. i don't know if the oil would have any adverse reaction to the fermentation process once i've bottle it, but am curious about the flavor combo...any thoughts or knowledge?
cheers!

Re: coconut?
Sat, July 4, 2009 - 11:38 PMI would say try using coconut water or coconut milk. Might be interesting. You should be able to find both in the regular store. If not a more "ethnic" store would be helpful. -

Sun, July 5, 2009 - 6:07 PMyou get lots of oil, no matter what. it would be better to get it to bottling fizzy, then add some to each bottle, rather than the mother canister/vat. -

Re: coconut?
Sun, July 5, 2009 - 7:03 PMright right. i wouldn't want to add any flavoring to the mother.
coconut would be added after a day or so in the bottle. coconut water might be a nice addition, maybe frozen and sued as ice cubes.
thanks gentlemen!

Re: coconut?
Sun, July 5, 2009 - 11:41 PMCoconut water has very little, if any, oil in it and is sold like a softdrink. But niki, you're right. I wouldn't add it until after the ferment is done. -
